The addiction medicine fellowship schedule is predictable, with regular hours and no evening or weekend call. The day typically starts at 8am and ends by 5:30pm, allowing time for exercise, dinner with family and friends, weekends in the wilderness - or whatever fills your cup - without worrying about finding coverage or needing to work late or fill extra shifts. The fellowship and its faculty understand the importance of work-life balance, especially in a field where we so frequently bear witness to suffering.
